Watched this with Billy last night.  Really worth a view if you’ve got the time.

I watched this with my wife last night. This is a really frank, intelligent representation of the Christian idea of marriage to a general American audience. There are some incredible nuggets of wisdom in here. Particularly about what to expect from and how to regard ones spouse. And then this beautiful assessment of a sexual and emotional standard in a marriage:

“There’s nothing more sexy than knowing that somebody you admire to the skies, admires you. The praise of the praiseworthy is above all rewards.”

I don’t agree wholly with everything here. In particular, I think that the “best friend” idea is not the most helpful model for what to look for in a spouse. I also disagree that Jesus words make a clear path for justifiable divorce. The very last question involves homosexuality, and Keller’s answer is quite incomplete (but the question was somewhat off topic anyhow.) Also, I believe that a covenant is not equivalent to a contract, but that it is above and beyond a contract. A contract legally binds two or more parties into a relatively narrow agreement with terms for dissolution; where as covenant is a total bond of two parties to one another in their essence.
